Château de Pray
Rue du Cèdre, Amboise, France
19 Rooms
Traditional Elegance & Secluded
With medieval roots and a 17th-century structure the fairy-tale Château de Pray is rich in atmosphere; 14 rooms and one suite occupy the original building, with four more loft-equipped rooms in the slightly more modern Renaissance Pavilion. The estate itself comprises several acres of Loire Valley parkland, and the surrounding area encompasses any number of castles and wineries. Chef Arnaud Philippon oversees the Michelin-starred restaurant, whose dining room, carved into the stone hillside, is in the style locally referred to as “troglodyte” — trust us when we say it’s quite a bit more elegant than it sounds.
