For a comfortingly classical experience in the city, head to Stikliai, set within a hotel in the heart of the Old Town. Here, photos of famous faces who have visited over the years line the walls – including celebrities and Heads of State – and the glass-roofed room filled with greenery has an elegant feel. Matching the atmosphere, the food has a classical French base, with the sauces in particular being a strength. You might find lamb shoulder confit with bulgur wheat, tomato concasse and aubergine caviar or haddock fillet served with sweet potatoes, fennel, pak choi and beurre blanc.
