Arguably there’s no better place to base an exploration of Yokohama than in the district, right by the port, that the Hyatt Regency Yokohama calls home. Like the city itself, the hotel is a heady mix of modern and historical elements — a thoroughly contemporary business hotel with plenty of local color, with enough personality to appeal also to leisure travelers. Rooms and suites are handsome, many with impressive views, and the flagship restaurant is a Japanese interpretation of Italian flavors prepared via French techniques. The waterside Yamashita Park and the central Yokohama Park and Stadium are both close at hand.
