Long abandoned and once home to Renaissance notary Petrvs Facienus, this 16th-century palazzo in the heart of Orvieto has been brought back to life with meticulous effort. Behind its carved stone doorways lie frescoes uncovered beneath centuries of plaster, coffered ceilings restored by hand, and striped textiles. Each of the nine rooms balances restraint with richness; even the restaurant, set in a deconsecrated church, feels conservatively theatrical. Centuries of history, holding their ground in the shadow of the Duomo.
