The Sunset Strip may seem an odd setting for the fastidiously green, clean-living 1 Hotel West Hollywood, but this is an unusually walkable corner of Los Angeles, and right here at the literal foot of the Hollywood Hills, the hotel’s signature foliage makes the perfect transition between city and nature. Rooms and suites are stylish in neutrals and organic materials, the comforts are upscale without feeling ostentatious, and some of the views are truly extraordinary. Harriet’s Rooftop, the open-air cocktail lounge, has what might be the best view of all; other dining venues include the flagship 1 Kitchen by Chris Crary, Juniper Lounge, and a poolside lounge complete with daybeds and cabanas.
