Modern Design & Happening
Film production house, distributor, and theater chain MK2 has expanded into hospitality with Hotel Paradiso, and if it’s possible for a hotel to be more thoroughly dedicated to cinema, we can’t imagine how — each of its 36 rooms comes with a projector, screen, and cinema-quality sound system, plus access to some 10,000 films. It’s an homage to the world of global cinema, and pays a tribute to Hollywood that’s more devoted than anything you’ll find in Hollywood itself, making good on its contention that Paris is the true world capital of film.

The rooms are stylish and not at all shy about it, in bold colors with modernist furniture and film-related artworks. Some are rather small — this is still Paris, after all — but some have city views that feel expansive, and all have a window into the infinite depth of the cinema screen.

Along with all the private cinemas there’s a public one, as well as a karaoke room, a café, and a rooftop bar with a view of the city (and an outdoor screen of its own). There’s also a proper MK2 cinema right next door, for the traditional moviegoing experience, and Le Loge is a six-seat private room within one of the theaters, reserved for guests of the hotel.
