Tribe Hotel

Limuru Road, Nairobi, Kenya
137 Rooms
Contemporary Classic & Lively
Located in Nairobi’s leafy Gigiri neighborhood — which happens to be the embassy district, and just ten minutes from the city center — the the 137-room Tribe is a perfectly positioned business hotel that looks nothing like a business hotel, more than luxe enough to serve as a place to recharge before or after a trip to trip to the bush, as well. The style is a cosmopolitan one, with art from all over Africa adorning airy, free-flowing interiors, and architecturally there’s hardly a straight line in sight.

Rooms are sunny and spacious, with cool stone walls, large windows and natural woods surrounding plush king or twin beds, modern bathrooms (some with oversized bathtubs) and convenient work stations. The split-level Loft suites are particularly well suited to the business traveler, with separate work and leisure areas, while the Ambassadorial and Presidential suites have been designed with the needs of a bona fide diplomat in mind — including additional security features and space for a daytime entourage.

Venues abound for both work and play. A private screening room, several boardrooms, a business center and a specialized business concierge make the hotel an excellent place for a bit of work. A rooftop bar, an elaborate heated pool (replete with a fireplace and submerged granite table), a full-service spa, a stylish restaurant and a soaring lobby lounge make for easy relaxation as well. And of course there’s life outside the Tribe’s doors, with the Village Market just down the street — home to numerous shops, restaurants, a cinema and even a water park, it’s the largest shopping and recreation center in East Africa.

How to get there:
Tribe Hotel is located 15 miles from Nairobi’s international airport and just 10 minutes from the city center. In addition to private transfers, shuttles and taxis are available from the airport. Depending on traffic, the drive from the airport is approximately 45 minutes.
