Riad Sakkan

Modern Design & Lively
The Marrakech medina is in some ways a trip back in time, but this is also a living, evolving city — perhaps nowhere more so than Mouassine, the corner of the medina that’s home to Riad Sakkan. This is the glamorous, youthful, fashionable side of Marrakech, which explains why Riad Sakkan is, in contrast with most other riad hotels, so strikingly contemporary. It’s a traditional inward-facing courtyard house, yes, but one with a contemporary color palette, modern furniture, and bedrooms decorated not only with vintage objets d’art but with contemporary artworks and black-and-white fashion photos as well.

With 12 rooms it’s not too large to capture the atmosphere of a private residence, from the cozy-but-glam Small Luxury rooms to the Master Suite with its bedside fireplace and its freestanding copper bathtub. Like any riad hotel it’s got a wealth of indoor and outdoor spaces for lounging, and it’s also got its own extensive rooftop restaurant, lounge, and bar, serving everything from breakfast and afternoon tea on through to sunset cocktails and dinner. And while they’re happy to have you as a dinner guest, they’re equally thrilled to point you to the neighborhood’s best restaurants, not to mention bars, shops, cafés, and more….
