Modern Design & Quiet
Picturesque alpine villages line the road from Bergamo to the ski resorts of the Bergamo Alps. Thanks to its medieval monuments and jazz festival, Clusone is arguably the most notable of them, and Collina Luxury Relais is easily the region’s most extravagant hotel. The owners timed the opening with the winter holidays, making the most of the location en route to the Colere and Monte Pora ski centers. But this design-focused hotel, positioned on a hilltop surrounded by mountain scenery, is a worthwhile destination in all four seasons.
Rooms are modern but cozy, with pale wood paneling, sophisticated lighting systems, and private patios with views of the Alps. Larger suites have wood-beamed ceilings and spacious terraces with outdoor Jacuzzis. The hotel’s chalets are particularly stylish, with skylights, knotty pine walls, and inviting open-air seating areas. More striking still is the beautifully illuminated spa and its temperature-controlled indoor-outdoor swimming pool. Breakfast is served al fresco in summer, and in winter with scenic mountain views through huge picture windows; the surrounding landscapes are a playground for outdoor activities throughout the year.
