Badia di Pomaio

Pomaio 4, Arezzo, Italy
13 Rooms
Contemporary Classic & Secluded
There may be no historical building form better suited to a bout of luxe escapism than the monastery — and a Tuscan one offers additional charms that are specific to the region. Badia di Pomaio, in its original form, dates back to 1645, but it was only in 2019 that it underwent its transformation, becoming a stylish and tastefully luxurious boutique hotel.

The location, just a few miles outside of Arezzo, means it’s placed to enjoy the archetypal Tuscan countryside experience, from rolling verdant hills to a table that serves local fare from zero-kilometer ingredients. Meanwhile the rooms and suites retain enough historical character to convey an unmistakable sense of place, while the decoration moves in a decidedly contemporary-luxe direction. Experiences include everything you come to rural Tuscany for, from truffle hunting and wine tasting to hiking, biking, clay-court tennis and more. Meals are served in the dining room or on the terrace, and the indoor-outdoor bar sits under a glass roof.
