Villa Blu Capri

It’s a good life, if you can get it. There’s a reason why the island of Capri is such a storied travel destination, at least among those whose tastes lean more toward poolside lounging than all-night clubbing, and the Villa Blu Capri is a perfect illustration. A 19-room hideaway on this famously insular island, it’s an adults-only escape whose modern interiors belie its classic villa exterior.

The rooms and suites are futuristic in a slightly retro way, a look that’s as authentically Italian as any Tuscan villa, if perhaps a bit less familiar. Here they trust the village of Anacapri to provide the historic backdrop, as the hotel is contemporary through and through. There’s no room category that’s less than luxurious, though terraces, balconies, hydromassage tubs and the like are optional extras as you move up the scale.

And this being Italy you can expect the cuisine is pretty well handled — at Marea Restaurant by Luis Mas it’s contemporary Mediterranean fare served in a stylish dining room outfitted with Poltrona Frau furnishings. Maybe that’s Villa Blu Capri in a nutshell — a modern interpretation of an ageless classic.
