InterContinental Amstel Amsterdam
It’s slightly farther from the city center than one might expect, but guests don’t mind, especially those who arrive via the river at the hotel’s handsome dock. The Amstel’s rooms and suites are stylistically as traditional as can be — classically Parisian, to be precise — but have been subtly upgraded with modern comforts, and are spacious, not only by local standards but in absolute terms as well.
There’s an impressive health and fitness club, complete with an indoor swimming pool. Meanwhile the Amstel Restaurant is a spectacular double-height space with floor-to-ceiling windows facing the river, and terrace seating when the season permits. The hotel’s weekend tea service is a local institution; the Amstel Bar is not just a bar but a casual international restaurant as well.

Excellent room, good service, good location.
A wonderurful stay at this most magical of hotels..fantastic service and a most caring staff, I will happily return there again and again over the years of my life..my only complaint is that I caught food poisoning from their oysters, and was deathly ill for two days. When I told them, they sent over a doctor (I had moved hotels to be closer to a friend for a day) they did not pay for the doctor's visit, which was only a hundred euros and would have made a very nice gesture. As I only ate at their restauraunt and food service prior to becoming ill I knoew exactly where I caught the poisoning
The hotel overall had an old,grand charm to it that we appreciated but felt was a little to formal for our tastes. It did however, have one of the nicest rooms we have stayed in. It was decorated in the same way the hotel was, but it was of such excellent quality that we did nit mind. The views of the Amstel were also fantastic.
