You certainly can’t accuse the InterContinental group of failing to live up to their name. In fact it’s increasingly the case that the first proper luxury hotel in an emerging travel destination will be found under the IHG banner. That’s true, at least, of the InterContinental Tashkent, a 216-room luxury hotel situated within the Trilliant Business Park complex, a mixed-use commercial, convention, and retail development just off the city’s central Amir Temur Square.
Most of the InterContinental’s 17 floors are given over to its rooms and suites, which spread out to princely sizes and freely combine minimalist-adjacent modern design with ornaments inspired by the local traditions. The height of the Trilliant development means most of them have impressively unobstructed views of the city, as well as plentiful daylight.
Spanning two floors is the E’quilibrium Wellness Club, comprising a spa, a fitness center, and an indoor pool. The InterContinental is the first Leed Gold–certified building in all of Uzbekistan, a substantial environmental achievement. And on the top floor, with the finest city views, is Ember, a grill-focused restaurant, as well as the punningly named Embar terrace bar.
