Out of their three tented camps in camps in Rajasthan, the founders of SUJÁN say that SUJÁN Jawai is their most ambitious conservation tourism project yet, a place where guests are immersed in the region’s wildlife and culture while only lightly touching the natural surroundings. Just ten tented suites are set against the backdrop of the Aravalli Mountain range and come luxuriously kitted out with all modern comforts and surprisingly contemporary interiors, plus large open verandas to take in the sweeping views. The Felidae Suite is ideal for groups of four, with two tents connected by a plinth and verandah, while Honeymooners tend to opt for the Royal Panthera Suite, which sits apart from the camp with its own heated pool, lounge and dining tent. For larger groups of friends and family there is Eden at Jawai, a private encampment accessible via its own entrance and comprising three double bedrooms, a pool, boma, and a lounge and dining area for more intimate evenings.
Shared facilities include the SUJÁN Spa, the dining tent, bar, a campfire, and a heated pool. The twice daily safari drives are the main attraction here, led by expert guides who are ready to spot roaming antelopes, boar, and over 245 species of birds, although with this being leopard country, the sometimes-elusive cats are quite naturally the primary focus. Other experiences include biking, hiking, and horseback rides, as well as walks with the Rabari tribe and visits to nearby religious temples, shrines and villages to learn more about the region’s culture and SUJÁN Jawai’s conservation work in the local communities.
