Cutting-Edge & Happening
Tokyo has fewer art-focused boutique hotels than we would have expected, but the ones that do exist go all the way. BnA_WALL — not a typo — is located in Nihombashi, not far from the Imperial Palace, but it could hardly be more modern. The name refers to the massive mural that greets guests as they enter; the hotel’s Art Rooms are each designed by a different artist, who earns a percentage of the nightly rate. They’re far from luxury-hotel fare, obviously, but make up for it in sheer unforgettability. A speakeasy-style bar cements the hotel’s connection to the youthful end of the local community.
