Contemporary Classic & Quiet
One MICHELIN Key · A very special stay
Martha’s Vineyard is the kind of destination that can feel a bit closed off to outsiders. It’s a place that’s perhaps better known for vacation homes and vacation estates than it is for hotels. But there are some gems to be found, among them Hob Knob, a charming 19th-century house in Edgartown that’s been converted into a small and intimate 17-room boutique-style hotel.

It’s a remarkably well-preserved piece of Gothic Revival architecture. The interior style is classic meets contemporary, traditional in character but all sparkling new. The focus is on creature comforts, with heaping king beds, plush robes, high-tech in-room amenities and plenty of space.

It’s luxe enough to hole up in, though you probably won’t — it’s a very short walk to the center of Edgartown, not much farther to the harbor, and if you didn’t bring your own bike, Hob Knob rents beach cruisers for two-wheeled exploration. And like the best city hotels, this island guest house comes with a skilled concierge, useful indeed for arranging tables, tours and adventures that only an insider would know.

What an amazing Inn, staff and location. Abbey the GM is an extremely capable Innkeeper or Hotelier. Not sure which applies to luxury boutique hotels. She answered all questions promptly. The rooms were gorgeous. Ours a soft soothing yellow with luxurious linens and pillows that are simply cloud like - a pampering touch you didn’t know you needed. There simply is not a thing to quibble about. The service level and both our and our friends rooms were exemplary. Tea service and evening cookies were a crowning touch. We are already discussing returning for a longer stay. This may be my bride’s favorite Inn of this size EVER! In room comments complimented the bathroom layout, tub, closet and decor. Bedding is mentioned above. Well worthy of their Michelin Key hopefully being considered for higher accolades. Delightful breakfast staff was like eating at an affluent aunty’s. If you are a fan of Jaws they have a coffee table book in the garden room that kept me occupied for hours with insights. Our bellman Omar was delightful, as were three of Abbey’s top dining recommendations informal: seafood shanty, Desserts - the Atlantic, Upscale 19 Oyster Bar. All were great and made for an outstanding visit. Thank you team Hob Knob

The HobNob has a great location: easy walking distance from Edgartown shopping and restaurants while being removed enough to have a quiet night’s sleep. It’s a classic country-style inn (no elevators, smallish very clean rooms) with wonderful breakfasts on the porch or in their pretty garden. Staff is friendly and helpful.
