• Sommelier
• Chef Mentor
• Young Chef
This year’s winner of our Sommelier Award, which was sponsored by Consorzio Barbera d’Asti, went to Christina Haukka from Kaskis restaurant in Turku, Finland.
What particularly caught the attention of the Inspectors was Christina’s personality. Her relaxed and personable style makes choosing wines to complement the set menu a pleasure. Her extensive knowledge is impressive and she also has a refreshingly open-minded and inquisitive approach – proven by her interest in sake.
Trained in Paris and Bordeaux, with plenty of experience in some fine restaurants, she continues to expand her knowledge by visiting producers, exploring their wineries and sampling their wines.
Christina is a sommelier who really impresses with her passion. She clearly enjoys sharing her discoveries with diners and her tailored pairings not only perfectly match the dishes on the set menu but also contribute considerably to one’s enjoyment of dinner.
Christina’s delight was made even greater when Gwendal announced that Kaskis had been awarded a Michelin Star.
