Contemporary Classic 和 Lively
Sometimes a hotelier can profit from offering an unconventional perspective on a city, an angle that emphasizes its setting’s subtler charms. Needless to say, that’s not the approach taken by Hyatt when it comes to the Hôtel du Louvre. It’s a member of the Unbound Collection, a sub-brand devoted to ultra-high-end, ultra-unique experiences, and it’s fair to say a top-flight luxury hotel just across the street from what’s arguably the world’s most famous museum is capable of delivering on both of those promises.
The Haussmannian building in which it sits is a classic, while its interiors are perhaps surprisingly contemporary — still Parisian to the core, but with a subtlety and a lightness that feels modern. The rooms and suites are state-of-the-art, efficiently laid out and shockingly quiet, and thanks to the hotel’s extraordinary location many of them offer views of the Louvre, the Comédie Française, the Avenue de l’Opéra, and at the high end even the Palais-Royal.
The Brasserie du Louvre features modern-classic French fare, developed under the guidance of legendary chef Paul Bocuse, as well as a terrace facing the Louvre, and the Officine du Louvre, the hotel’s bar, sits under a spectacular glass roof. And the Hôtel du Louvre’s capable staff will happily pursue reservations at any of Paris’s vast selection of extraordinary restaurants — as well as excursions that take advantage of the hotel’s unique location, from museum visits to tours of Louis XV’s personal wine cellar.
