There was a time when the eco-friendly ethos and recycled/reclaimed décor on display at 1 Hotels South Beach would have been a tough sell in ultra-decadent Miami. But as jetsetters increasingly trade conspicuous consumption for conscious consumption, hedonism has taken a wholesome, almost virtuous turn. The salvage aesthetic adapts to Miami’s situation, of course. To that end: no fewer than four pools, complete with cabanas and, in the case of the rooftop pool, extraordinary views, compete with the hotel’s own beach club for your lounging hours. The Bamford Haybarn Spa, a high-end British import, is similarly dedicated to sparing a moment for yourself. The fitness offerings are similarly top-shelf: there’s an Anatomy gym and a SoulCycle studio as well, which instantly makes this the top choice among Miami hotels for a certain segment of fitness enthusiasts. Fortunately you won’t have trouble fueling up for all this exertion — the dining and nightlife offerings include a pool bar, a healthy concept restaurant called PLNTHOUSE, and WATR-, a rooftop Japanese and Peruvian restaurant with views out to sea.
