You may think that if you’ve seen one Maldivian overwater resort you’ve seen them all, but even given the competition, the Four Seasons Resort Maldives at Landaa Giraavaru is something special. It’s got everything you expect it to, plus it’s set in a UNESCO World Biosphere Reserve, to which you’ll arrive by private seaplane; you can swim with manta rays and help raise sea turtles. There’s an impossibly beautiful stretch of white-sand beach, and the Spa & Ayurvedic Retreat goes far beyond the ordinary wellness program. Meanwhile the vast villas sit on stilts over the lagoon, on the beach at the edge of the jungle, or, in the case of the three-bedroom Land and Ocean Suite, do a bit of both.
