Set between the picturesque old town and the city park on the Croatian island of Rab, the Imperial Valamar Collection Hotel is a proper escape, an elegant historical property, nearly a century old, updated and transformed into a striking contemporary hotel whose rooms complement, even as they contrast with, the hotel’s original architecture. The Imperial features both indoor and outdoor pools, as well as a poolside bar and lounge; the restaurant, Nobilis, opens onto the gardens, as does the Veritas restaurant and wine bar. There’s a shuttle available for trips to the beach, and if you’re on foot, the Old Town and the park were made for gentle strolling.
