Just a little bit farther west than the great majority of Paris’s hotels it’s possible to find something unusually tranquil and verdant. A 19th-century mansion close to the Bois de Boulogne is now Le 5 Particulier, a hotel whose country-house style belies the fact that it’s a mere mile from the Arc de Triomphe. Its rooms are handsome and soothingly minimalist, while its restaurant and cocktail bar are afforded a bit more glamour; the ace in the hole, of course, is the leafy courtyard garden — a space a more centrally located hotel wouldn’t dare dream of.
