There’s something pleasingly symmetrical, even geometrical, about the design-focused boutique hotel Alpenloge. It’s located at the junction of four countries — Germany, Switzerland, Liechtenstein, and Austria — and each of its nine rooms is named after the cardinal direction it faces, some overlooking dazzling alpine landscapes and others a scenic mountain village. The architecture is loosely modeled after the Bavarian schoolhouse that once stood in its place, with a wood-shingled roof and high-ceilinged rooms bathed in natural light. But the interiors are more modern than traditional: the owners went to great lengths to outfit the interiors with the finest furnishings available in Europe, from king-sized beds by the renowned German manufacturer Schramm to chairs by Danish brands like Nor11 and Fredericia.
