Set out to find a luxury hotel on a Greek island and you know more or less what you’re getting into: whitewashed architecture, visual simplicity, endless Aegean views. What sets a hotel like Cosme apart isn’t its direction, but its magnitude. It’s set in the village of Naoussa, on the northern coast of Paros, an island that’s rather more tranquil than some of its neighbors, though hardly less desirable. And in its 40 suites you’ll find a thoughtful, tasteful approach to luxury, and a style that’s memorable and modern while remaining unobtrusive — as always, the setting and the seascapes are the main attraction.

Many of the suites come with plunge pools, and all of them feature custom-designed contemporary furniture by the Spanish designer Jaime Hayon and luxe bathrooms stocked with Korres products — in fact the Elios spa, named for the Greek sun god, is a partnership with Korres, the Greek skincare brand. Meanwhile the public spaces are filled with works by modern Greek artists, and the restaurant, headed by the Greek chef Yiannis Kioroglou, is similarly devoted to the local tradition — and among the offerings are classes in the art of Medite-grecian cooking.
