L'Horizon Resort & Spa

Palm Springs is justifiably proud of its mid-century Modernist heritage, and L’Horizon’s architect, William F. Cody, was a big part of the city’s story. In its first heyday it was a private residence and a series of guest houses, and played host to Hollywood luminaries on the caliber of a Marilyn Monroe. It’s been a hotel for some years now, but it’s perhaps only in its new incarnation, under the ownership of celebrity designer Steve Hermann, that it’s found its ideal form.

Mr. Hermann, naturally, was responsible for a thorough redesign, and today L’Horizon Resort & Spa is as pure a dose of glamorous luxury boutique hospitality as you’re likely to find in town. The Residence and its surrounding bungalows are decked out in a crisp contemporary re-imagining of the classic mid-century style, and furnished with luxe touches like Frette linens and Le Labo bath products.

Crucially, as far as the vibe is concerned, L’Horizon is an adults-only resort, limited to guests 21 and above. As the name promises, there’s a lovely indoor-outdoor spa, as well as a stunning pool and facilities for yoga and personal training. Meanwhile SO•PA, the restaurant, serves a Mediterranean-accented Californian menu; reservations are required.
