The Myconian Collection began decades ago with a single hotel, and a single hotelier. Today, his four sons, back from studying hospitality management in Switzerland, run a large handful of luxury hotels across the island — the most luxurious of which has to be the Myconian Villa Collection, in the hills above Elia Beach, on the island’s southern coast.
It’s not just a villa collection — it’s got traditional guest rooms and attached “in-house” villas in addition to its proper freestanding villas — but ranging as they do up to a thousand square meters, it’s fair to say the villas are among the island’s most extravagant accommodations.
That’s not to say there’s anything paltry about the guestrooms, which are attractively outfitted in a contemporary variation on that familiar whitewashed Aegean palette, and which come with sea views and (in most cases) an outdoor jacuzzi or plunge pool.
The Rejuvenation Spa is a fairly self-explanatory idea, and a similarly stylish space to boot. And the Myconian Villa Collection is home to no fewer than three restaurants: Nouveau, for breakfast and light daytime fare, the Infinity Pool Bar & Restaurant (extra points if you can guess its most arresting feature), and the fine-dining Cabbanes.
