So swift and successful was the Nobu restaurant brand’s expansion into the hotel world that the mere mention of a Nobu Hotel Marrakech immediately calls to mind a complete picture: an enormously stylish, architecturally distinctive luxury hotel with a pronounced Japanese accent and a first-rate food and beverage program. It’s set in the Hivernage district’s Golden Triangle, one of the city’s most prestigious locations. And why not? In typical Nobu form it’s easily as plush as any luxury hotel in town, and at the same time as hip as any boutique.
Its interiors are a glamorous modern Moroccan fantasy, and exhibit an uncommon warmth; here the typically forward-looking Nobu house style is adapted to the more tradition-bound context of North African hospitality. The comforts, naturally, are high-end, both in the 71 suites and in the subterranean Pearl spa. And while the accommodations are certainly no afterthought, it’s perhaps no surprise that the social spaces are among the hotel’s most remarkable spaces — from the ground-floor Nobu restaurant and its adjacent cocktail lounge to the rooftop garden, which takes full advantage of the building’s circular construction to provide a 360-degree view of the Atlas mountains and the rooftops of Marrakech.
