The Balearic Islands are plentifully endowed with rocky cliffs, pristine beaches, evergreen forests, and rugged mountains, but only a singular occurrence of natural hot springs. They’re located near the southern coast of Mallorca, and Fontsanta Thermal Spa & Wellness is the closest hotel. So close, in fact, that its spa, built around the springs’ mineral-rich thermal waters, is Fontsanta’s main draw and namesake — the name, after all, means “sacred fountain.” But this quietly stylish adults-only retreat has plenty to offer beyond its subterranean springs, like privileged views over the spectacular landscape and a guests-only beach club on Es Trenc, one of the island’s loveliest stretches of shoreline.
A collection of stone buildings houses the restaurant, spa, and two levels of guest rooms, all of which open onto private furnished terraces. The interiors are modern but down-to-earth, with wide wood-plank floors, beamed ceilings, a color scheme of white and beige, and furnishings upholstered in linen. Outside, breakfast is served beneath the trees, and white canopied daybeds surround the hotel’s outdoor pools and Jacuzzis — though you'll need to reserve a time at Fontsana’s gorgeous spa and its thoughtfully designed hydrotherapy circuit for access to the region’s healing waters.
