The InterContinental Bora Bora Resort & Thalasso Spa stands in the shadow of the picturesque Mount Otemanu, providing an extra level of scenic appeal for what is already possibly the most photogenic form of hospitality yet devised. After all, the whole point of an overwater villa is that you can dangle your feet in the lagoon any time you like. Many of them add plunge pools, for another aquatic option, and lavish spa-like bathrooms are universal. (Turns out you can fit quite a lot of modern luxury beneath a thatched roof. And unlike many resorts of this kind, every single unit stands over the waters of the lagoon, as do the Deep Ocean Spa’s treatment bungalows.
