Overlooking Quonochontaug Pond on Rhode Island’s southern coast, Weekapaug Inn has been a local landmark since 1899, when it first opened as a seaside retreat for the summer community. Rebuilt after the 1938 hurricane, it still carries the easy grace of its early days: shingled walls, porches facing the water, and rooms filled with antiques and coastal touches. Guests spend days sailing, bird-watching, or lingering on the private beach before dinner at the waterfront restaurant. Elegant but unpretentious, it is New England tradition at its most enduring.
