Most of the time, it’s enough for an airport hotel just to be comfortable and convenient, and on those two counts the Hyatt Regency Incheon certainly comes through. Just a three-minute shuttle ride from Incheon International Airport, it feels like an oasis — a calm and quiet place to recharge after the rigors of air travel. What really sets it apart from the typical airport hotel, however, is that it’s also a well-equipped, highly functional business hotel. That’s obviously a good thing if you’ve got business in Incheon, but it also means that a long layover in Seoul doesn’t have to leave you scrambling to catch up when you get to your final destination.
Even if you don’t have any work to do, it’s an excellent place to rest up between flights. The rooms are spacious and well-appointed, with king-size beds covered in goose-down duvets. Elegant granite baths and all the proper technology, from iPod docks to LED screens, make it easy to hole up in the room and fight off the jetlag in style. And when you’re eyelids get heavy from too much time in front of the monitor, there’s a cloud-like bed tempting you to take a nap — as for productivity, just tell yourself that getting over jetlag a little sooner will pay dividends later on.
There’s also a surprising array of distractions outside the rooms. The hotel’s aptly named Restaurant 8 is essentially eight restaurants in one, with separate sections dedicated to various cuisines. It’s a bit like an airport food hall, only more relaxed, and far more attractively designed. A garden-side pool further enhances the oasis effect, and offers a welcome dose of sun and greenery after spending a while in airports and planes. And if you really want to work off any residual travel stress, the on-site karaoke bar ought to do the trick.
