Contemporary Classic & Quiet
Tenuta di Murlo sits on thousands of acres of Umbrian hills, largely untouched since World War II, when farm workers left and over fifty structures fell into ruin. Alessio and Carlotta Carabba Tettamanti have spent twelve years restoring parts of the family estate: a 14th-century parish church with four bedrooms, scattered cottages, a castle that sleeps twenty. The landscape remains the main draw: deep green ridges, stone watchtowers, a working water mill. Guests stay in converted farmhouses with kitchens stocked from the estate's own land, or book a chef if they'd rather not cook. Il Caldaro, the on-site restaurant, serves porcini and wild boar in autumn, broad beans in summer, all eaten outdoors under the hydrangeas.
