Modern Design & Quiet
After a pair of stylish boutique hotels in the distinctly un-tropical city of Frankfurt, the Lindenberg group has gone as far as it’s possible to go, both in concept and in sheer literal distance. Lost Lindenberg finds itself on the west coast of Bali, and a bit farther out than most of the competition, in the quiet seaside village of Pekutatan, with the jungle at its back and a long black lava-sand beach right out front — the surfing is fine enough, and the island’s longest break happens to be located at Medewi Beach, just ten minutes up the road.

Lost Lindenberg’s vibe is playful, just like its urban sisters, though the atmosphere is, for obvious reasons, rather more laid-back. The design, by architects Alexis Dornier and Maximilian Jencquel, is unusual, a series of treehouse-like towers connected by elevated walkways. The materials are natural, and thanks to its small size — a mere eight rooms — the footprint is impressively small.

There’s a proper Balinese-style spa as well as a restaurant serving home-style local fare sourced from on and around the property. Electric bikes are available for exploring the coast, and surf lessons are available as well. And there’s plenty of space for lounging, both indoors and out, from the terraces to the poolside to the beach.
