Modern Design & Lively
Just a two-hour drive from Sydney, the lush green hills of the Southern Highlands are a refreshing alternative to the beach scene. Standing out amid the region’s many traditional inns is the stylish Osborn House. It’s been functioning as a guesthouse since 1892, but it’s become new again — a fresh, whimsical retreat with a nostalgic air — under the direction of Linda Boronkay, former Design Director at London’s Soho House. Twelve of the hotel’s 22 rooms are located in the beautifully restored main house, where an English country aesthetic prevails; the other rooms are down a path in rustic-chic bungalows with fireplaces and outdoor bathtubs. The common areas are picture-perfect, from the cozy living rooms and colorful indoor-outdoor restaurant to pretty gardens and striped cabanas by the pool, and the waterfalls and hiking trails of Morton National Park are a stone’s throw away.
