Café, bistro, restaurant – this family-run establishment in the compact pedestrian area of Rutesheim is all of the above. Opened in 1987 as a café by Mr & Mrs Striegel (both confectioners), it has since blossomed into a sophisticated restaurant. Breakfast, lunch, coffee and cake are served during the day; in the evening, Tim Striegel (the son) serves up his fine dining concept. The set menu comprises three to five imaginative and elaborate courses made from excellent ingredients – a case in point is the "Norway lobster, cauliflower, yuzu, almond" or "venison from the Leonberg hunt, celery, cranberry, parsley". Harmonious wine pairings are also available on request. The predominantly German wine list is appealing.
