MICHELIN Guide’s Point Of View

The name comes from the founder, Kumasaburo, and his home-town, Tamba. The current, second-generation, chef carries on his spirit, ‘serving up the four seasons of Kyoto’. In spring, there’s wakatakeni; in summer hamo and Yanagawa-style baby taro potatoes; and in autumn and spring, tai, thinly sliced. Famous winter offerings are the ‘Uzura Manju’ and Horaku egg dish. All seating is in private rooms, and the tatami terrace is open from May to September.
