Hotel De' Ricci
Via della Barchetta 14, Rome, Italy
Piazza Navona & the Pantheon

Modern Design & Lively
Rione Regola may not be one of Rome’s most famous quarters, but for travelers, perhaps it should be: it’s close to Piazza Navona, Campo De’ Fiori, and the Pantheon, and within walking distance of the Vatican. In this corner of the city, just off the Piazza de’ Ricci, you’ll find Lorenzo Lisi’s famous restaurant, Pierluigi — and now, just around the corner, you’ll find the hidden gem that is Mr. Lisi’s next venture: the Hotel de’ Ricci.
This old palazzo has been lovingly converted into an eight-suite boutique hotel which is not just stylish and comfortable but is uncommonly devoted to wine; not only are there some 1,500 labels in the house’s cellar, but the hotel itself is staffed by professional sommeliers. The suites are attractive, decorated in a picturesque mid-century style, and also feature some high-end comforts, including wine storage units which are stocked according to guests’ preferences.
And while an eight-room Roman boutique hotel doesn’t quite need a full-service restaurant, the Hotel de’ Ricci serves breakfast, lunch, and dinner, either in the hotel’s lounge or en suite. The heart of the place, however, is the Charade Bar, which is open only to hotel guests and a select few private members — here, alongside the capacious wine list, is an equally encyclopedic selection of cocktails.
