Barely a mile from the medieval village of Armenzano and a rugged few more from Assisi, amid the rolling green hills of Umbria’s Monte Subasio Regional Park, is Le Silve di Armenzano, a one-time monastic retreat that’s now only slightly less tranquil — and rather more luxurious. The 19 rooms are split between the historical structure and the modern addition; the former are heavier on antique atmosphere, the latter more modern and minimalist, while all are luxurious and exceedingly restful. The spa offers forest excursions as well as typical treatments, and the cuisine is hyper-local and traditionally Umbrian.
