Its distinctive terraced construction means the views from the spacious balconies are still as abundant as ever; the interiors are sedate compared to the Sixties but quite stylish by Four Seasons standards, and they’re faultlessly luxurious. Creature comforts are plentiful — the pools, the spa, the sea-facing cabanas — and among its several bars and restaurants the flagship, Pelagos, is the proud recipient of a Michelin star.
