MICHELIN Guide’s Point Of View

Koji Nagata is a prominent figure in the world of Nara cuisine. He exercises creativity with the menu and offers cheerful hospitality. From early summer he specialises in hamo dishes, the most famous being his hamo suki nabe. Another characteristic is how he always includes nigiri. Japanese and Western sensibilities come through in the boiled daikon eaten hot with miso served with foie gras and the persimmon shiraae with raisin butter. The space, too, is stylish, with jazz playing.
