A throwback classic on the Italian Riviera, the Hotel Metropole looks back over the port, the bay, and the town from the fringes of Santa Margherita Ligure. A classic, yes, but not a time capsule — the Metropole’s interiors have been brought up to date, and contemporary furniture now stands atop its parquet floors. The summer terrace is the venue for the Beach Club restaurant, while inside the hotel is the more formal dining room, with a typically Ligurian focus on seafood. There’s an outdoor pool and a small spa, and guests receive special rates at the Golf and Tennis Club of Rapallo.
