Kimpton Hotel Palomar South Beach

The fourth Kimpton hotel in the greater Miami area is the Kimpton Hotel Palomar South Beach, which stands discreetly along the banks of Collins Canal, in the Sunset Harbour neighborhood on the Biscayne Bay–facing side of the island. In the typical Kimpton manner the Palomar is attractive, but wears its stylishness lightly, and goes out of its way to feel approachable.

It’s perhaps in the rooms and suites that the Palomar makes the most of its ever-so-slightly out-of-the-way setting; there’s a resort-like aspect to the accommodations, especially the ones that come with balconies or terraces facing the canal. All of them, naturally, come with Kimpton-standard luxuries like Frette linens and Atelier Bloem bath products, and yoga mats are available upon request.

A variety of wellness-oriented activities are available, from massages to kayak rentals to yoga or interval-training classes offered by “wellness partners” in the Sunset Harbour district. And among the Palomar’s common spaces are a rooftop pool and lounge, a beach club at 21st and Collins, and an Italian restaurant, Osteria Morini, serving a menu (and a cocktail selection) inspired by the culinary traditions of Emilia-Romagna.
