Classico contemporaneo e Di tendenza
The American-born dancer Loïe Fuller was nothing short of a sensation from her first appearance at the Folies Bergère, her swirling silk robes memorably captured in works by Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec and Auguste Rodin; Miss Fuller celebrates her legacy and the Art Nouveau movement she personified. Just steps from the Arc de Triomphe and the Champs-Élysées, it’s a boutique hotel from the Drawing Hotels Collection, a Parisian brand that creates one-of-a-kind hotels in close collaboration with artists, designers, and the NIDO architectural agency. The building’s fanciful stone façade dates back to the late 19th century, but the interiors are the work of five artists who were invited to revitalize its rooms in the spirit of the Belle Époque.
A large-scale installation by Raphaëlle Peria occupies the ground level; dedicated to the theme of changing seasons, it features a beautiful carpet patterned with hand-drawn water lilies and delicate botanical murals that curve around the breakfast room. Upstairs, each floor represents a singular creative vision — romantic, boldly graphic black and white florals on one, dreamy nocturnal nature imagery on another — and no two rooms are alike. But they all have custom-designed wallpaper, flooring, and decor, charmingly tiled Italian-style bathrooms, cozy bathrobes, and Nespresso machines. There’s plenty of old-world character, too, that predates the artists’ interventions: many rooms have antique frosted-glass partitions, wrought-iron balconies, or cozy reading nooks. Downstairs, the glass-ceilinged lounge bar serves Art Nouveau-inspired cocktails, and an art concierge stands by with advice for exploring the city.
