Its location is hard to beat: just steps from the National Theatre, the Royal Palace, and the high-street shops of Karl Johans gate, and only a short walk to the waterfront. Dining has long been one of the Continental’s strong suits. The Viennese-style Theatercaféen is a beloved local institutions, while the lavish breakfast buffet is a highlight not to be missed.
The hotel’s mainstay clientele may be buttoned-up executive travelers — the Economist-reading set — but it has plenty of personality to appeal more broadly. Individually designed rooms feature patterned wallpaper and tiled bathrooms, while the lobby salons showcase a noteworthy art collection, adding layers of charm and character.
