It’s quiet luxury all the way at the Valverde Lisboa Hotel & Garden. This elegant boutique hotel is set on the tree-lined Avenue da Liberdade, Lisbon’s very own Champs-Élysées, and inside, it’s modeled after the look of a London townhouse. Traditional Portuguese details — handmade porcelain vases, landscape paintings in gilded frames, Moorish-inspired woodwork — add local character to the sultry ground-level living room, and rooms are sophisticated, with moody color palettes, geometric patterns, and retro-inspired furniture. Those in the original building are cozy and compact, while many rooms in the newer wing have private balconies and freestanding cast iron tubs. Breakfast is served in the stylish restaurant, with tables spilling onto the interior courtyard in warm weather, and the rooftop terrace is home to a petite swimming pool.
