In the popular imagination a mention of the Côte d’Azur still conjures visions of Cannes and its grand hotels, but the French Riviera’s most luxurious escapes are hotels like Cap d’Antibes Beach Hotel, which lavishes the comforts and services of a much larger hotel on a mere 35 rooms and suites’ worth of guests. This is the new face of luxury in the south of France — not a grand monument on a seaside promenade but an intimate yet luxurious getaway with its own heavenly little slice of private beach.
The modern, slightly minimalist rooms and suites are frankly more attractive than they have any need to be, and they could hardly be more comfortable, each with its own garden or terrace facing the sea. They’re the equal of any grand-hotel accommodation, and then some; the hotel’s discreet and tranquil atmosphere is an added bonus. So too are the spa and the restaurants, one of which (Les Pêcheurs) has been rewarded with a MICHELIN Star.
