At Kamasaki Onsen in the forests of Shiroishi, the Ichijo family has overseen these springs for more than five centuries. The newly built Yukawa inn carries that lineage forward, with a design inspired by an Imperial Villa and an entrance marked by the preserved door of the old Ichijo branch. Eleven rooms all feature terraces and open-air baths facing the river, where the sound of water is ever-present. Meals are served privately, often on the terrace, emphasizing seasonal ingredients from the region. Here, history, hospitality, and landscape are inseparable.
