On the island of Austevoll, Bekkjarvik Gjestgiveri has welcomed travelers since the 17th century, when King Christian IV decreed guesthouses be built along Norway’s coast. What began as a stop for sailors and traders now stands as a family-run inn where heritage meets quiet refinement. The guesthouse spans three white timber buildings by the harbor, home to 48 rooms and a restaurant led by twin chefs Ørjan and Arnt Johannessen. Local seafood, garden-grown produce, and sea air shape the experience, a true taste of coastal Norway, steeped in history and craft.
