Cannery Pier Hotel stretches along a working pier on the Columbia River, directly beneath America's longest continuous truss bridge. The brick-red exterior recalls the cannery it replaced, but inside, floor-to-ceiling windows frame constant river traffic: container ships, pilot boats, the occasional sea lion. All rooms face the water, with balconies, gas fireplaces, and bathrooms designed to take in the view from the tub. Nightly wine and smoked salmon gather guests in the lounge before a vintage car shuttles them to downtown Astoria. A Finnish sauna honors the town's fishing heritage, while Pendleton throws wait in every room for when the river breeze turns cold.
