Once the private villa of a Cornish engineer, Villa Sant’Andrea became a hotel in the 1960s and still carries the ease of a well-kept seaside home. The original 1919 structure opens onto a sand-and-shingle beach lined with subtropical gardens, just below Taormina. Inside, it is all soft neutrals, Sicilian ceramics, and marble underfoot. Most of the rooms open to sea views, some with copper tubs and Acqua di Parma in the bath. A regular shuttle connects guests to Belmond’s sister property, the Grand Hotel Timeo, uphill in town.
